The Friends v Eastnor B.C.

The Friends and Eastnor B.C. line up before battle commenced

What a lovely County to visit, Herefordshire.  On our first day we played at Eastnor in the castle grounds. A wonderful country setting with the bowls club looking up at the castle.  The club house is a large wooden building with a wide rustic veranda with ample seating to sit and watch the match.

Val, Rose and Pat – the invaluable ladies in the kitchen

The teams came out to play, the Friends in their white badged kit, the home side in their turquoise tops – with the sun shining down on us.  The green was fast, there were good and bad woods and the spectators watcher whilst eating choc ices.

Captain of the Day Kath and Captain Rose

We managed a win.  Well done the Friends.  Our hosts however won the hospitality stakes.  They gave us a very good meal of ham and vegetables, multiple choice of sweets and plenty of cheese and biscuits.

Rose (again) and Peter seeing to our thirsty needs before the game

Captain of the Day Kath, then gave top rink prizes of home made preserves to both the home and away teams.

Presenting Eastnor Bowls Club with a memento of the happy day

Thank you Rose and Eastnor Club for giving us such an enjoyable day.  We all want to come back another day.  There is no better compliment.
