🏆 The Friends Pairs Competition
The weather was good for the ‘Friends’ Pairs Competition which was held on Friday 15th August at the home of and during the National Championships at Victoria Park, Leamington on Green E.
It was an early start with players arriving at ‘The Extra End’ from 8.15am ready for the draw at 9.30am. We had 43 members turn up to play for the Winners Salver. This included 10 pairs of couples who were married or partners.
Play began promptly at 10am,. the format: 15 ends of two-wood pairs. As the sun climbed higher, so did the intensity, with several matches decided on the final end.
The teams that made it to the final were Neil and Maxine Fletcher verses Susanne and Vincent Knauss. Both teams in the final had to play 5 games and a total of 75 ends finishing at 6.30pm. It was a hard

- The valiant runners up: Susanne and Vincent Knauss
fought game with the Knauss’ winning the first 3 ends but the Fletcher’s winning the fourth to equalize the game. They continued to win ends until they were three ahead and when they picked up a two in the fourteenth the game was over 14 -11. They were successful for the 2nd time in three years.
