Thursday 1st June: This was to be the last game of a group of three, played in Yorkshire. The weather has not been particularly kind, and today was no different… probably the coldest! Never mind, there was a welcome hot drink and a good selection of sandwiches/rolls for us to buy when we arrived. Neil Forrester welcomed us all, and the teams were called in the clubhouse before we walked to the green, where the group photo kicked off the afternoons proceedings.
Today we would be playing 18 ends, 1 on the first 2 ends, and three’s up. Unfortunately the sun was definitely not going to show its face.
Our top rink today was Steve Atkinson, Anne Perry, Sue Skerry and Adie Lloyd. Borough Parks top rink was Eileen, James, Alison and Gareth. Friends won the game overall 84-68.
Back in the clubhouse, Paul Robson, our Captain of the Day gave special thanks to Neil Forrester, Alison and Betty who had provided a magnificent warm meal, and of course thanks went to all who had helped make the day the success that it was. A certificate was presented to Sylvia Thacker, the Captain of the Day for Borough Park – something for the club to remember our day together.
Thank you Borough Park for a good game, and good company. All the Friends who had travelled to Yorkshire from Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Cornwall, Hampshire, Herefordshire, Kent, Lancashire, Northants, Wiltshire, would now be making their way home. A great three days of games in Yorkshire!
