Saturday 1st July 2023: Pembroke Gardens Bowling Club at Southsea, Portsmouth, are this year celebrating 100 years. Despite a road closure outside the entrance, and parking in the grounds of the club, all went very well. President Carol and Captain of the Day Richard warmly welcomed all the guests and members. The rink proved to be tricky for the Friends, but more so for the club members. With a sunny day and a cool breeze, the Friends with members from 10 counties, managed to win on all rinks with a score of 118 to 67. Top rink for the Friends was rink 2 with a score of 20-6. The rink was made up of Lead – Maxeen Fletcher, No2 – Richard Peyton, No 3 Margaret Annetts and Skip Michael Skerry.
After an excellent lunch, a presentation to the Pembroke Gardens’ team who lost the least of a little duck each, thanks were made to the kitchen staff Gill, Molly and Margaret and Elaine who manned the bar.
An excellent day enjoyed by all.
Neil Fletcher – Captain of the Day.
