Laughter on the green at Faringdon BC

Sunday July 14th  Our third game was at Faringdon BC,  situated in the market town which lies at the edge of the Cotswolds midway between Oxford and Swindon. We had been blessed with sunny but not too warm weather and this was to continue.  We were greeted by President John, and Captain of the Day Emma (Em).   There was a slight hiccup when one of the kitchen ladies reported sick, but fortunately in stepped two of the Friends’ partners, Maggie and Judy to solve any problems.

A photo was held on the green of all  the participants, before the captains called out the teams.  Neil dropped a clanger by thanking Shrivenham for the invitation (we played there on Friday)!!!   The game that followed on a very pleasant green was held in excellent spirits as could be heard from the laughter around.

An excellent meal followed the game –  thanks to Paula, Diana, Chris, Ann and Vince.   Captain Em thanked all, including the bar staff of Jane, John and Joan, but brushed over the games result.  The top rink for Faringdon was congratulated,  namely Rink 6 made up of Em, John R, Ann and Vince.  This was followed by Neil presenting to the Friends top Rink 4 of Leslie Summersgill, Michael Andrew, Trevor Dean and Richard Somerton a small well done.   The Friends had won the game by 124 to 80 and 4 rinks to 2.

It had been an excellent day, and with the bowlers going home to watch the Euro final  Neil made the mistake of reminding people that ‘ its coming home’, which of course it did not.
