A Damp Day at Highworth

The Friends of English Bowling v Highworth BC, Wiltshire
15th July 2024

We arrived at Highworth for our celebration match to thick cloud and rain; we were warmly welcomed, and the rolls and cakes on offer to purchase for our lunch were much appreciated.

The match was played in the usual good spirit, despite having to play in the rain, and after 18 ends the Friends managed a win with a final score of 105 – 72.   We won on 4 of the 6 rinks;  three of the rinks were played with only three in the team as unfortunately three of the players didn’t arrive.    After amending the score to reflect this, Friends were still the victors with a 95-75 win.

Top winning rink for the friends on rink 6: Richard Pearce, Ian Perry, Terri Keen.  The top rink for Highworth on rink 4:  P Shelley, S Leighfield, M Eckett,  M Pollock

We were treated to a splendid tea and Clive presented Captain of the day Chris Mussen with a framed certificate to commemorate the match and our visit.  Despite the score the club was genuinely delighted that we came to visit them.
