1st June 2025 – Dunnington BC, Yorkshire

dark clouds looming

Captain for Friends, Clive, President Jim and Dunnington’s Captain Denise
Our visit to Dunnington Bowling Club was met with a warm and gracious welcome. President Jim, alongside Captain Denise, ensured we felt right at home, and the afternoon’s game was played in the true spirit of camaraderie, however the weather was more challenging today, with dark clouds, a strong wind and the occasional downpour!
The green played well, though it seemed to favour the home side more than some of our players! The match was closely contested overall, apart from one rink, but as always, it was a team effort. Ultimately, the final score stood at Friends – 82, Dunnington – 100.
Top Winning Rink – Friends (Rink 3) : Lead: Barbara Dean, No. 2: Sylvia Thacker, No. 3: Paul Robson / Bryan Robinson, Skip: Lindsay Bangs. Final Score: 18 – 8
Top Winning Rink – Dunnington (Rink 1) : Lead: Dave Booth,, No. 2: Alison Shepherd, No. 3: Dave Crane, Skip: Brian Last. Final Score: A dominant 27 – 5 victory!
The Friends were well represented with players from 10 counties, along with our dedicated supporters. The history and mission of the Friends was shared with all, followed by the customary acknowledgments concluding with the presentation of Friends certificate to commemorate our visit.
