President’s Centenary Celebration Match
We were invited to Woolston to help them celebrate the one hundredth birthday of their president Wally Kemish. He was president in 2018 when he was 93 and has remained active at the club since then. His bowling these days is a little gentler but the Past Presidents convinced him that he could do it with their help. Wally did not bowl on the day but he was there to support the club, assisted by his daughter. The weather was kind with moderate sunshine and a refreshing breeze. A very pleasant afternoon with the usual bowler’s banter. The friends came in with an 18 shot victory. The usual presentations were made on both sides and I presented Wally with a framed Certificate to celebrate his centenary.
- Woolston’s Top Rink
- Friends Top Rink
- Friends who need to do better!
Our top rink (4) was Margaret Morris, Gordon Newman, Ian Perry and Gerald Webb. Rink 5 for Woolston took the honours for them who were Gary, Martin, Stan & Mike.
Thank you to everyone involved at the club. A lot of hard work paid off with a very successful event. Thanks to all the Friends for taking part. We had nine counties represented and the day rounded off a very pleasant weekend on the South Coast.
Well done Woolston, here’s to Centenarian Wally Kemish.
