Hot Hot Hot! 33C and rising. Kingswood & Hanham BC made us very welcome in their cool club with three fans going, but our hot bodies soon warmed it up.
There is a fantastic feeling when you are meeting your extended bowls family again after the winter break and also making new friends.
“The mad dogs and English men (and ladies)” ventured out with suncream and hats on and with water at end of the rinks. One on each end of the first two ends and 16 ends in all was the order of the day. Afterwards the teams nearly drank the bar dry of soft drinks.
Cottage pie and fresh veg (beautiful) and a trifle for our meal was very much appreciated by us all. Thank you for that hot work.
Speeches of thanks were made and the scores examined. K&H won on 4 rinks, but Friends won by 2 shots. Do we call that a draw? Adie gave out Kath’s preserves to the top rinks, who were for K&H Julie, Caroline, Steve and Clive, for the Friends Barbara, Anne, Tony and ‘the other Adie’. Photos were taken after the Friends, Match Secretary reminded the Chair…. You can’t get the staff nowadays. We hope that some of the photos will appear in the Bowls International.

We had a lovely day. Thank you. Big smiles all round. A thunderstorm after the match was not expected, but very welcome. Good for the garden.
