Friends v. GB Britton

G B Britton*, Bristol East
Wednesday 27th May

We arrived at the club with temperatures in the high twenties. It was the third day of the heatwave but there was a slight breeze which made it much more comfortable than yesterday.

Hot and Happy !

Captain Wes and I decided to aim for a full game with trial ends, which we accomplished with ease. The match went well for the Friends, winning five rinks and losing the sixth by only one shot. The Green played magnificently, the best I have played on so far this season. The greenkeeping team should be very proud of their achievement.

Thanks to the ladies in the kitchen, we stopped at 9 ends for an ice cream which was far better received than tea and biscuits. The ladies had also provided us with a very fine cold buffet meal. Thanks to all in the kitchen.

Top rink for the Friends were Richard, Michael, Lindsay and Adie. Top rink for G B Britton were Mark, Alan, Mike and Chairman Ali. Well played to all.

Thank you to everyone at the club for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Captain of the Day

*G B Britton was the shoe manufacturer who made Tuf shoes. Happy memories from my school days in the sixties wearing Tuf shoes. Sadly, they are no longer in business
