27th June 2026 at Fairford BC, Gloucestershire.
A warm welcome was received on our visit to Fairford for a celebration match whilst in the area, the weather was hot but not as much as the previous week luckily.
Captain Alan made us feel very welcome and the game was played in the usual good humour and sportsmanship that you expect to see.
Despite winning 3 rinks and a valiant effort from all our players we narrowly came second with a score of 84 – 88 and if I had not moved the jack with my last shot the match may well have ended in a draw. Oh well never mind everyone appeared to have a good day and we were treated to a wonderful supper by their chef which was much appreciated by all.
Top winning rink for the friends was Rink 6
Lead – Glyn Perry
No 2 – Michael Andrew
No 3 – Babs Salter
Skip – Trevor Dean
With a score of 21 – 14
The top rink for Bushey was Rink 1
Lead – Lyn
No 2 – Lesley
No 3 – Ron
Skip – Tim
With a hammering of 21 – 9!
The function of the friends was explained to the players along with the usual thankyou’s followed by the presentation of a certificate to commemorate our visit.
Captain Clive’s Presentation of Friends CertificateWhat a great and warm day for bowls.
