Friends received a warm and generous welcome at Kingsthorpe, where Captain of the Day John Churchman hosted us as part of the club’s 130th Anniversary celebrations. Also in attendance were Northamptonshire Men’s President John Gunning and guests from neighbouring clubs, adding to the sense of occasion.
The match itself was a closely fought and enjoyable contest. Although FOEB played with determination across the green, Kingsthorpe secured the overall win, 105–86. Our rinks finished with four losses, one draw, and one excellent winning rink.
Our victorious rink was skipped by Michael Morris, with support from Colin Bingley, Anne Perry, and Alan Cole — a well‑earned success. Kingsthorpe’s top rink featured Linda, Elaine, Wayne, and David.
After the game we joined the club for a celebratory meal, where John Churchman was presented with a commemorative plaque marking our visit.
A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all. Thank you, Kingsthorpe, for your hospitality and for sharing your special milestone with us.
