Saturday 11th July 2026
Still in the grip of the heatwave, we arrived at Wellingborough to be greeted by Club President Terry and both Northants County Presidents Marlene and John, both members of the club. Marlene was taking the game so we got to work on the match. Due to the intense heat we decided to have a 15 minute refreshment break at 9 ends which worked well and we managed to complete a full game before the meal was due.
The club chef surpassed all expectations with one of the tastiest Lasagnas I have ever had accompanied by salad and Garlic bread. A fresh fruit salad finished us off. Congratulations on a splendid meal.
Marlene and I made the usual speeches after the meal. The match was a success for the Friends finishing with a 27 shot win. Top rink for the Friends went to Lesley, Ian David & Trevor. Top honours for Wellingborough went to Keith, Chris, Ian and Wendy.
Thank you to everyone for making it a very enjoyable day. We were represented by eleven counties with some very long distance travellers. See you soon in Devon.
