Cottenham is well-loved village just north of Cambridge and down through the houses a lane takes you to the recreation area where the Bowls Club is. Plenty of parking. Yippee.
The day was not meltingly hot, but good bowls playing weather. Friends from 13 counties gathered to enjoy a warm welcome from the club. The catering ladies worked very hard to accommodate all the varied diets and well filled rolls were produced and quickly consumed.
Our Web master was present 😊and took the pre match photos, which will appear on our website and in Bowls International. The banter started, the ups and downs came and the hard lucks and well dones proceeded. Who was winning? It was very tight.
A splendid salad and sweet for the after-match meal was followed by the president of Cottenham BC speech, to which Adie Lloyd, our captain of the day, replied with many thanks to the club. The highest winning rink for the club were Simon, Paul, Peter and Glen. And for the Friends they were Dennis, Gordon, Sandra and Andy.
A lovely day in a part of the country we had not been before. THANK YOU, COTTENHAM.
Good bowling, good green, good food, lovely people.
The score? 107:105 to the Friends. Phew!
