It was my pleasure to act as Captain of the Day for the Friends of English Bowling team in our match against the English Bowls Association Charity Trust (EBACT), captained by Terri Keen.
The weather was excellent throughout the day, providing ideal conditions for an enjoyable game of bowls. We were made most welcome by Iver Heath Bowls Club, Buckinghamshire, whose hospitality was outstanding. The excellent meal provided was greatly appreciated by everyone and added to the success of the day.
The match was played in exactly the right spirit, with friendly but competitive bowling throughout. Laughter could be heard across all the rinks, reflecting the camaraderie and enjoyment shared by both teams.
The Friends of English Bowling were delighted to record a well-earned victory, but the result was secondary to the spirit in which the match was played and the friendships strengthened during the day.
On behalf of the Friends of English Bowling, I would like to thank Terri Keen and the EBACT team for an excellent match, and extend our sincere thanks to everyone at Iver Heath Bowls Club for their warm welcome, generous hospitality, and for making the day such a memorable occasion.
