Great Bowling at Kings Langley

100th Anniversary Celebration – 15th May 2025

On a chilly day, we arrived at Kings Langley Bowling Club to mark their incredible 100th anniversary. Despite the brisk weather, we received a wonderfully warm welcome from the Ladies’ Club Captain, Sue Jenkins, setting the tone for a fantastic day of bowling.

The green was a pleasure to play on, and the rinks were filled with cheerful banter. Kings Langley BC has a rich history, having been founded in 1925. After relocating in 1939 to a three-rink site, the club made its final move in 1973 to its current location, where continuous improvements have shaped it into the thriving club it is today.

happy players despite the cold!

Match Highlights

Mike Skerry’s rink got off to a flying start, leading 20–9 at 12 ends. By the 18th end, the score tightened to 21–19, dashing Mike’s hope for the highest winning rink accolade!

We had just one losing rink, falling short by only 7 shots. Meanwhile, our highest winning rink featured an excellent performance by:

  • Lead – Keith Price
  • No. 2 – Maddie McConomy
  • No. 3 – Marcia Dunstone
  • Skip – Andy Hunt

Final Score – 129–91 – a competitive and closely fought match!

Post-Match Celebrations

The club treated us to a delightful meal, lovingly prepared by the Ladies of Kings Langley BC. After the meal, speeches commenced, and a commemorative certificate was presented to Sue Jenkins on behalf of the Friends of English Bowling, honouring their remarkable century of bowling.

A truly special occasion, filled with camaraderie and celebration—a wonderful way to mark 100 years of Kings Langley Bowling Club!
