Centenary Celebrations at Wellesbourne BC

Monday 23rd June 2025

We were greeted at the gate by Vice Chairman Peter who was running the day for Wellesbourne. A good selection of rolls was on offer for lunch and the whole event was very well organised. We were privileged to be the first of the club’s celebration matches and local dignitaries were on hand to show their support for the club. The local press photographer Rob Lavers took lots of shots during the match and we thank him for allowing us to use his group photo. The weather was kind with moderate sunshine and a refreshing breeze. With the results in from 5 rinks there was only 1 shot difference so it all rested on our Rink 5.  I am pleased to say that they came in as our top rink, so the Friends took victory.  The usual presentations were made on both sides and I presented Vice Chairman Peter with our framed Centenary Certificate.

Friends Top Rink : Richard, Graham, Anne & Brian with Captain of the Day Paul Robson

Our top rink (5) was Brian Haines, Anne Perry, Graham Annetts and Richard Somerton. Rink 1 for Wellesbourne took the honours for them who were Margaret, Carol, Jonathan and Adrian.

Thank you to everyone involved at the club. A lot of hard work paid off with a very successful event. Thanks to all the Friends for taking part. We had 14 counties represented which must be close to a record.

Well done Wellesbourne, here’s to the next Hundred.

Paul Robson
Captain of the Day
