Alexandra BC – Game 17

Saturday 9th July – Friends at The Alexandra Bowling & Social Club, Portsmouth. On arrival at the club we were greeted by a wonderful array of colour from a multitude of hanging baskets, planters and flower beds.  They are tended by one single member of the club, Mrs. Jean Swan who is still very active in her 80th year.   Well done Jean, a spectacular achievement. We were kept well refreshed during the match with jugs…

Friday, 8th July,    Leigh Park BC. With an important meeting taking place at the adjacent football club, we arrived to find the car park somewhat congested, but fortunately the nearby shoppers car park charges were sensible, and spaces were available, so as they say ”problem solved!” The purpose of the Friends visit was to celebrate the completion of Leigh Park’s newly upgraded clubhouse, and the very warm sunny weather certainly mirrored the warm welcome…

The weather wasn’t looking good when we arrived at Potton BC, but we were warmly greeted and provided with an excellent buffet, including cake.  It was a wonder we could still manage to bowl! We began the game in drizzling rain, unfortunately, which lasted for the first 10 ends, however the sun eventually did make an attempt to appear.   The green was excellent, and a great game played, with…
